Overview
BetaSweep is a desktop application that runs locally on your machine. Website scans are performed on your device, and scan results are stored locally. However, certain features — including account authentication, scan authorization, and payments — involve server-side processing. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
Data We Collect
BetaSweep collects the following categories of data depending on how you use the app:
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. This data is stored in our authentication provider (Supabase) and is required to use the app.
- Scan authorization records: Each scan requires a server-side authorization token. We store minimal metadata (such as token status and timestamp) to validate and manage scan activity. The content of your scans is not transmitted to our servers.
- Payment information: If you make a purchase, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. We retain records of transaction status and plan entitlements.
- Access request data: If you request beta access or submit feedback, we collect your name (if provided), email address, and any information you include in your message.
- Usage and diagnostic data: We may collect anonymized, aggregated usage data (such as feature interactions and error reports) to improve app stability and performance. This data does not include website content, scan results, or personally identifiable information, and is not sold or shared with third parties.
Website scans run entirely on your device. Scan results are stored locally unless you choose to export or share them. We do not access your website content, credentials, or private data.
How We Use Your Data
Data we collect is used solely for the following purposes:
- Providing and managing your account and access to the app
- Authorizing and processing scans
- Processing payments and managing subscription or purchase entitlements
- Responding to access requests and user feedback
- Improving app performance, stability, and features
- Communicating service updates or changes to these policies
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating and improving the app.
Third-Party Services
BetaSweep relies on the following third-party providers to deliver its functionality. Each provider operates under its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and server-side functions
- Stripe — payment processing
- Postmark — transactional email delivery
- Google PageSpeed Insights — performance analysis (URLs of scanned pages are submitted to Google's API when the Performance module is enabled)
We share only the minimum data necessary for each provider to perform its function. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for their own purposes.
Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as payment records). Anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely in aggregated form.
Data Security
Because website scans run locally, your scan data remains under your control at all times. For server-side data, we use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed password storage, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
